Unmanned vehicles provide many functions within defence and security applications such as airborne surveillance, border patrol and tactical systems. In every case uninterrupted communication to the control centre is vital.
Illustrated are two new, light weight, very slim, high specification, omni-directional antennas developed by Cobham Antenna Systems for use on unmanned systems. These small but robust antennas may be mounted on airborne and ground vehicles, robots and drones.
On the left is the omni-directional blade antenna, SBA-2.3V/1470, designed for integration into the wing of a target drone providing RF coverage behind the platform from 2.0 to 2.5 GHz.
On the right of the photograph is an omni-directional blade antenna with mounting flange, SBA-900/1249, covering the frequency 902 to 928 MHz.
The company is continually developing and manufacturing antennas for integration into unmanned systems and for communication systems in command control centres.
